Aquilino Soriano | L.Ac

Aquilino Soriano’s journey into acupuncture began with his certification in massage therapy. From there he went on to study Acupuncture at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM), and in 1995 earned his Master’s Degree and is board certified in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. He specializes in Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, postural alignment, (certified in both Symmetry and Egoscue). He integrates both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western orthopedics and sports medicine methods to holistically treat each individual patient. Aquilino also specializes in NAET, an allergy elimination technique which proves successful with both children and adults of all ages. In 2000 he founded Acusport Health Center, and has enjoyed serving the community of Ocean Beach. As a longtime musician, he incorporates vibrational healing in his sessions through the use of tuning forks, which can have positive effects on the physical and emotional state of the body and mind.

Yael Ben-Porat | DAOM, MPH, LAc

Yael’s initial interest in the diversity in approach to the human condition is evidenced by her early career choice to pursue a BA degree in Cultural Anthropology with an emphasis in the Anthropology of Medical Practice from UCSD. As Managing Editor of the Journal of Medicinal Food she has maintained her strong ties to traditional western science and medicine while forging to bridge the gap between what was once a great distance between Eastern and Western approaches to health and well-being. Certified as a licensed acupuncturist both by the California Acupuncture Board as well as nationally, she earned her Masters of Science Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego. Yael employs a combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, Herbology, Tui Na, Qi Gong and postural alignment exercises, as well as diet and lifestyle modifications as needed to help her patients restore and maintain their health and well being. She has served a two-year Internship with Vasa Mik in the application of Acupunture Techniques to specifically address issues involving Orthopedic and Sports Medicine applications. Yael’s other interests include internal medicine, drug and alcohol addiction, women’s health/infertility issues, mental health (neurology), endocrinology, gastrointestinal dysfunction and pain diseases, immune disorders and overall illness prevention.

Yael believes that is is never too late in life to turn your health around and begin living a stronger more satisfying existence.

Matt Callison | LAc 

Matt Callison uses his experience as a licensed acupuncturist and educator for 32 years to contribute to the development of synthesizing Sports Medicine and Chinese Medicine with the intention of helping others.

Matt Callison is the president of AcuSport Education and the Sports Medicine Acupuncture Certification program. He is well known for his unique ability to blend Chinese Medicine with Sports Medicine for over three decades is demonstrated by his excellent worldwide reputation. This is particularly evident in his educational program, the “Sports Medicine Acupuncture Certification Program”, which is attended by acupuncturists across the globe. He has over 25 years experience in cadaver dissection that has helped him to further broaden and deepen his educational program for the acupuncturist.

Mr. Callison has had a clinical practice for over 32 years and is well known for developing innovative and successful treatment protocols for musculoskeletal injury. He has published many articles including a clinical study on Acupuncture and Tibial Stress syndromes (shin splints), Shoulder Impingement Syndrome as well as Acupuncture and Sports Related Muscle Tension Headaches in the Journal of Chinese Medicine.

  • Furthermore, Mr. Callison is well-known for his work with professional athletes including the San Diego Chargers, Arizona Cardinals, and Minnesota Vikings NFL players. Mr. Callison is also the creator of the Motor Point and Acupuncture Meridian Chart as well as the author of three publications, The Motor Point Manual, Motor Point Index and his latest publication, the world-renowned Sports Medicine Acupuncture: An Integrated Approach Combining Sports Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

    Matt Callison earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education/Sports Medicine from San Diego State University in 1985. He worked in the Sports Medicine field at Alvarado Sports Medicine clinic in San Diego and Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, CA for 6 years. In 1991, Mr. Callison received his Master’s Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, where the class he developed is still being taught- “Treatment of Orthopedic Disorders”.

    From 2000 – 2019, Mr. Callison served as Pacific College’s supervisor of acupuncture interns at the University of California’s San Diego Sports Medicine RIMAC Center, where athletes are treated with his guidance in Sports Medicine Acupuncture. This externship continues today with student supervisors of Mr. Callison that continuing the educational lineage of Sports Medicine Acupuncture.

    Mr. Callison continues to guest lecture in many acupuncture college and university doctoral programs across the United States continues to research, develop and maintain doctorate level education.

Shannon Wheelwright | DACM, LAc

Dr. Shannon Wheelwright, L.Ac is a California Board Certified Acupuncturist offering integrative, patient-centered healthcare. She is a Pacific College of Health Sciences graduate with a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

Shannon’s patients experience personalized treatments with a combination of Eastern and Western treatment modalities. She empowers them through education, giving them the tools to take control of their healthcare. Her multi-faceted approach helps her patients to achieve optimal health.

Shannon is inspired by the balance nature brings. When she’s not working with her patients, you can find her outside hiking, backpacking, reading a good book, or drinking coffee in her garden with her dogs, cats, and chickens. Her time in nature and with her animals help keep her grounded and full of joy so that she can be the best practitioner to her patients and community.

Regina Paskoff | DAcCHM, L.Ac

Regina’s journey began with her own experience of a PCOS diagnosis, which led her to discover the transformative and healing power of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Her academic foundation in Psychobiology, where she studied the brain’s role in behavior and its underlying physiology, initially set her on a Western medical path. However, as her body began to regulate and heal through Eastern medicine, her focus shifted and she knew she had found her “why.” Regina’s experience with the healing effects of TCM sparked a deep curiosity about how this medicine had transformed her body, motivating her to embark on a four-year journey toward earning her doctorate in the field.

This path of self-discovery and healing fueled Regina’s passion for identifying and addressing the root causes of complex health conditions. She firmly believes in the body’s innate wisdom, strength, and ability to heal. By integrating ancient techniques with modern medical knowledge, Regina’s goal is to restore balance within the body and guide you back to optimal health. With her firsthand experience, education, and genuine curiosity, she offers compassionate, personalized, and holistic care, always aiming to create an environment where patients feel safe, understood, and truly cared for during their treatments.

Regina is a Doctor of Chinese Medicine, a California-licensed acupuncturist, & Board-Certified Chinese Herbal Medicine Practitioner. She received her degree from the Pacific College of Health and Science in San Diego, where she underwent training in various Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities.

Louise Maggay | LMT, Massage Therapist

Louise is a licensed massage therapist currently pursuing her doctorate in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. Her massage practice blends Western and Eastern bodywork, incorporating circulatory, sports and deep tissue with an understanding of meridians and acupoints. She is certified in traditional Thai through the Loi Kroh massage school in Chiang Mai. Louise is also a dedicated Ashtanga yoga practitioner and freediver. In addition to relieving pain and promoting relaxation, her massages focus on harmonizing the body’s energy flow, increasing mobility, and promoting proper respiration.

Lauren Fisher | Massage Therapist

Lauren blends a wealth of experience and ongoing education in holistic health. Currently pursuing a doctorate in acupuncture and Chinese medicine, she is deeply committed to integrating traditional and modern healing practices. With a background as an athlete, dancer, and yogi, Lauren has long relied on bodywork to maintain optimal health and wellness. She brings expertise in multiple massage modalities, including Swedish, deep tissue, tui na, Thai, and assisted stretching, ensuring personalized care for every client. Guided by a passion for holistic wellness, Lauren offers a comprehensive approach that honors both Eastern and Western philosophies, fostering healing and rejuvenation in each session.

Tsubasa Ohkawa | Massage Therapist

Tsubasa is a massage therapist with over 500 hours of training across a range of modalities, including Deep Tissue, Swedish, Foot Reflexology, and Traditional Thai massage. His primary focus, however, is on Shiatsu, a Japanese therapeutic style rooted in the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Tsubasa is drawn to Shiatsu because of its blend of meditation, body awareness, creativity, and healing. He views it as a dynamic art form that requires continuous practice to develop the sensitivity and intuition needed to truly understand and support the body’s natural rhythms and energy flow.

His background in Zen monastic training at the Green Gulch Farm Zen Center and Tassajara Zen Mountain Center, combined with his daily Tai Chi practice, shapes and refines his Shiatsu practice. These disciplines instill in him the understanding that caring for his own health and mindfulness is essential to caring for the health and well-being of his clients.

In addition to his massage practice, Tsubasa is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at Pacific College of Health and Science. His studies are complemented by an internship at Acusport Health Center, where he is gaining hands-on experience in sports medicine and orthopedic acupuncture under Dr. Yael Ben-Porat. He is expected to graduate in Spring 2026.

Outside of his professional life, Tsubasa enjoys gardening, playing music, skateboarding, and spending time in nature with his partner, Laurel, and their 2.5-year-old Labsky, Kuma.

Shane Damon | Massage Therapist

Shane is a dedicated massage therapist with a deep passion for sports and physical wellness. A lifelong soccer player and coach, he has always been committed to understanding the demands placed on athletes' bodies. Shane specializes in sports massage, focusing on helping athletes recover from injuries and manage the physical stresses of their training. His expertise also extends to therapeutic massage, aimed at alleviating pain and dysfunction in the body. Shane combines techniques from Swedish circulatory massage, Chinese Tui Na, deep tissue fascia release, Thai massage, and stretching in his sessions.

Outside of his professional life, Shane enjoys hiking and camping with his dog, coaching soccer, and bodysurfing. Rugby is a new interest after massaging for the San Diego Legion team during the 2024 season.

Teresa Mojica | Massage Therapist

Teresa has been in the healthcare field for over 20 years, working previously as a medical assistant in oncology. Wanting a more hands on approach to healthcare, she enrolled in massage school in 2004 at Body Therapy Center in Palo Alto, California. She obtained over 500 hours of training in Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, and lymphatic drainage. Before moving to San Diego in 2018, she worked with a chiropractor for over 12 years and developed her skills as a clinical deep tissue therapist addressing chronic pain and repetitive work injuries.

Rebeca Camacho | Reiki Practitioner, Craniosacral Therapist

Rebeca Camacho is a certified Reiki practitioner and craniosacral therapist. With a rich background as a yoga teacher, breathwork facilitator, and sound healer, Rebeca's journey into intuitive bodywork has been shaped by a deep passion for guiding others into a more profound connection with their emotional body. Her approach encourages clients to explore the psychosomatic interplay of physical and emotional awareness, helping them find healing and balance. In her free time, Rebeca practices Brazilian jiu-jitsu, yoga, and leads monthly women's circles, nurturing community and personal growth.
